Hunan boasts a very long history.
A lot of findings of archacologists show that primitive
people were very active in this region about 8,000 years
ago. Hunan has broad ranges of mountains and huge expanse
of waters as well as complete geological structures and
topographcial features. Its stratum is well developed.
Boyuedong is known to the whole world for its magnificence
and special structure and peculiar designs endowed by
nature.
This area is rich
in non-ferrous metals resources. Xihuanshan, known as
the home of antimony in the world, is located in the middle
of Hunan Province. In the meantime, the warm and humid
climate become the hot bed for the rare plants such as
redwood and ginkgo. Thus the area has become a natural
botanical garden in the south of China with the highest
density of plant families, which are not only valuable
data for research, but also a valuable resource for science
learning tourism.

are presenting some geological, mineral, fossil and plants
investigation itineranies which we hope to meet your special
interests and requivements.

A. Geological Inspection in Chenzhou, Ningyuan,
Guiyang and Yizhang
Day1 Arriving in Changsha city, visiting Hunan
provincial, Yuelu Academy of calssial learing and Aiwanting

Day2 Visiting
Hunan Provincial Geological Museum, attending a forum
with geological experts, bus to Nanyue Mountain (200km)
which is a Buddhist Mecca and visiting Nanyue Grand Temple.

Day3 Visiting Magu
Fairyland and Zhusheng Temple, bus to Chenzhou city (280km).

Day4 Visiting Suxian
Hill, Steles, Taohuaju Village, White Deer Cave, and Wanhuayan
Cave(karst cave),Visiting Shizhuyuan Mining Area, which
is a main productive base of some rare metals, such as
wolfram, stibium, bismuth and copper in China. (SuXian

Day5 Bus to Guiyang county,
visiting mountain Springs. (GuiYang Government Hostel)
Day6 Visiting the East Tower of the Ming
Dynasty, Karst cave in Longquancun Village where the fossils
of South China giant pandas and the Oriental Sword-teethed
elephant herd, the human being historical remains and
fossils in the Late Pleistocene Epoch were found, and
the mining areas in Huangshaping and Baoshan. (GuiYang

Day7 Bus to Ningyuan
county (103km), visiting pastoral scenery and Danxia Topography.

Visiting Jiuyishan Mountain National Forest Park and xiaodongjiang

Bus to Linwu county. (LinWu Government Hostel)
Day10
Visiting nonferrous metal mining area in Xianghualing,
Linwu county, and Jihua county, especially Jihua Stone,
which is a newly found and named rare metal. (LinWu Government

Day11 Bus to Yizhang county
,visiting Danxia topography and Mangshan Mountain Nature

Day12
Bus back to Changsha city, attending a farewell banquet.

B. Minerals and Danxin Topography Investigation
in ¡°the Stibium Capital¡± and Langshan Mountain Area
Day1 Arriving in Changsha city, visiting
Hunan Provicial Museum and city tour. (Grand Sun City

Day2 Visiting Hunan Provincial Geological
Museum, attending a forum with geological experts, visiting
Yuelu Mountain and Yuelu Academy of classical learing.

Day3 Bus to Lengshuijiang city, visiting
countryside scenery on the way. (LengShui HTL)
Day4 Inspecting Boyue Cave of horizontal
Karst cave in which we can find goose-neck stones, dams
formed by mud-rock flow and suspended concave stone
troughs that are the treasures of the cave and also
rare in the world. Visiting Dachengshan Mountain which
is the birthplace of the Mahayana Sect of Buddhism.

Day5 Inspecting and visiting mineral
base and shafts in Lengshuijian-the biggest Stibium

Day6 Bus to Xinning, visiting the mountain
scenery of Lingnan area on the way. (ShuiDian HTL)
Day7~Day9 Inspecting the mixed topographies
of Danxia and Karst in Langshan mountain area where
we can inspect the natural China fir community, primitive
forests and the Neolithic cultural relics, visit battle
fields and castles of peasant uprisings, and enjoy the
local customs of the Yao, Miao and Dong national minorities.

C. Ecological Environment Inspection in Zhangjiajie,
Badagongshan Mountain and Hupingshan Mountain
Day1 Arriving in Zhangjiajie city

Day2 Visiting Zhangjiajie National
Park. (Zhangjiajie National Park, Tianzishan Mountain
and Yaozizhi Stockade belong to the Wulingyuan scenic
Area. It has thick vegetation, plentiful spacies, including
27 species of animals and 41spacies of birds. It covers
an area of more the 2000 hectares with various kinds
of primitive secondary forests, thus making it the first-class

Day3 Exploring Tianzishan Natural Preserve.

Day4 Exploring Yaozizhai Natural Preserve.

Day5 Visiting Zhangjiajie City, Badagongshan

Nature Preserve. (The core part of the preserve covers
an ares of 4,666 which is the cradle of Southeast Asian

Day8 Bus to Sangzhi County via Sangzhi

Day9 Bus to Hupingshan Mountain Nature
Preserve. (It is a rare biological gene bank and natural
forest park which covers an area of 15 square kilometers.
It has plentiful species and rare animals with great

Day10 Exploring Hupingshan Nature Preserve.

Day12 Bus to Shimen County and visiting
Jiashan national Forest Park. (It is famous of its primitive

D. Mushroom Inspecting Tour
Day1 Arriving in Changsha, then city
tour (Provincial Museum)
Day2 Having a forum with the experts
from Provincial Research Institute of Edible Mushroom,
introducation on mushroom planting. After lunch, visiting
the planting places of mushroom.
Day3 Visiting the biggest comprehensive
open market (esp. of farm produce), then fly to Zhangjiajie
in the afternoon.
Day4 Introduction on western Hunan
mushroom, then bus to Sangzhi County to visit the biggest
Planting base (mountain area) of artificial mushroom
in western Hunan.
Day5 Bus to Fuzhi Village in Yongshun
County to collect wild mushroom.
Day6 Climbing onto Tianzi Mountain
and Pick up mushroom on the way, then going down by
Cable car. In the afternoon visiting the Yellow Dragon
Cave, then mushroom dinner.
Day7 City tour in Zhangjiajie (Puguang
Temple, Tujia Minority Museun), local market. Fly to
next destination.

1.The itinerary above is still optional.
2.The experts from the Provincial Research Institute
of Edible Mushroom will be with the Group through the
whole trip.
3.Usually October is the best season for collecting
both wild and artificial mushroom.
4.About the forum, we¡¯ve prepared written-formed materials,
pictures, and samples.
